I looked at this for my degree, looking at many different cases. I felt rage when it was clearly circumstantial evidence and a media circus, and more rage when the Manson family slipped through a death sentance hiatus in california. I've come to the conclusion that I can't get to a conclusion. There will alaways be, for me, doubts in alot of cases whether they really did it or are being set up.
In England we don't have it any more but many, many times I feel that it should be there. But I feel fear that a political party will come along pro-death penalty and the public will be swept away due to many problems with the structure of society and see it as a quick-fix. Its cost efficient and keeps us safe, right? I guess Germans in the 1930s felt that way, for a while.
